“My designs are a response to the contours and colors of my inspiration. I seek to capture visual fragments of memory through various means of metal, color and form. I challenge myself, hoping to kindle the same internal connection with the wearer. I delight in the essence of this work, of all these hand-tasks propelled by effort into lively, wearable objects.”
An independent Canadian designer and artisan, Lydia Buxton received her BFA from NSCAD University in 2013, where she majored in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing – shortly after graduating she won the 10th Annual National Student Jewellery Competition at L.A. Pai Gallery. Her most recent body of work, ‘The Gardens We Carry’ is represented by Charon Kransen Arts, of New York, NY and by L.A. Pai Gallery in Ottawa, ON. Recently relocated from Halifax, NS, she currently lives and works in East Vancouver, where she creates her studio line Lydi of the Valley Jewellery.
